Life's Labyrinth,  Muse bites

ASSUME= ASS, U, ME

“He is a bully”, “She is backbiting about me”, “They are sleeping with each other”, “His mum is the one scheming such wicked stuff”.  We hear this all the time; someone almost always has something to say about somebody else. But have you ever wondered how much any of it is true?!! A dear friend of mine was recollecting an incident on the folly of assumptions, and I had to put it here!! Here goes:

It was a marriage being arranged in South India. So there was this guy who was about to be hitched to this girl . Let us refer to him as X. In most marriages, be it arranged or love, the bridegroom-to-be is “inspected” for flaws through every stalking method possible, be it social media or relatives or neighbours, even the milkman would be subject to questioning!! So one fine day, this girl picks up a racket with X saying((to be precise, strongly accusing) that he slept with some girl on a trip he had been on. Now, this guy is bewildered, he gets neither head nor tail of what the girl says.  After hours of patient questioning, she finally reveals that she read it on Facebook, from a description of an album from a trip. Mr.X, with no recollection of what it could be, then opens his Facebook account, and finds what she is talking about. There is a line which says, “X had trouble sleeping because he had to share the BUNK bed with another girl”. Now, does sharing a bunk bed mean sleeping together?!!  All you people who have slept on bunkers, don’t you think such assumption is bonkers!!?!

I couldn’t stop laughing after I heard this! I also couldn’t stop wondering why that girl couldn’t have directly asked him, even if she hadn’t understood, instead of assuming and then accusing!! To assume is to make an ASS out of U and ME, so fellas, before you “assume”, try this crazy method; it is called “asking”.

Till next time, Cheers!!!
