BE YOUR OWN BOSS

Everyday, each of us performs a set of duties assigned to us. Most of the time, we focus on finishing the work that we have to do, which translates to just completing the work given to us, nothing more and nothing less. But how many of us take ownership to our work? Yes, we all do own our work and do our own work, but taking ownership to your work; do you do it?

Taking ownership to work means you hold yourself accountable for your actions and how you do your job. It is about asking “What can I do to improve my work? “, and to accept all credit, good or bad, for one’s work. Taking ownership to work is directly beneficial to you. Here are three ways in which taking ownership to your work is advantageous to you:

You learn more

When you take charge of your work,  you would want to know every aspect of what you do,  in thorough. So, not only would you learn more but also you would do more. You would become more creative at what you do and seek for more innovation.

You are intrinsically motivated

“Education stops at a point. Learning is forever.” – Albert Einstein

When you keep learning to find more and better ways to do what you do, you keep getting motivated from within. This creates self-dependence; you will not depend on others to teach you or show you how to do it. What can be more empowering than self-dependence?

You strive for perfection

When you take ownership to your own work, you become your own critic. You would know your strengths and flaws, and you would embrace them, working towards betterment. You will want to keep improving, thus creating perfection at work.

Any job you do is going to have your fingerprints all over it. This is why you should take ownership of your job and really own it. Do the best you can and be the best at what you do.

Cheers, #betheboss !!
