Everyone today is talking about digitization, or rather they are in favor of digitization. Digitization is affecting the way we communicate with others, our preferences for entertainment, and ultimately, the way we obtain all types of information. Back then, we would use yellow pages to search for numbers and addresses, may it be a restaurant or a hospital, or any other service. Now we use Zomato and Justdial. DVDs to streamed movies and television

If you miss watching the movies in the theatres, you had to wait till the DVD got released and would rush to get it and watch. But nowadays, miss a movie; no problem, thanks to live streaming!

CDs to mp3s

The CD players and Walkman… Buy a cassette, Play, change batteries, repeat! But now, just add songs into your mp3 players and ipods, and charge them on the go!

Roadmaps to GPS

Handheld paper maps to Digital GPS in hand, do you even remember the big foldable maps that we used to carry every time we went out?

Photos to Flickr

Imagine the amount of film we would consume if we were taking pictures the old way even today?

Newspapers and journals to online article databases

Want to know about something? Name it, and you know you will find it online.

Ever since the internet actively emerged in the 90’s, media companies have been competing with each other to develop means to create, manage and distribute digital content. When television just emerged, players like HBO and Star Networks knew how it was going to be, how demand for content on television would increase, so they grew into the mega networks that they are today.

Eventually, the future of TV is also going to be the internet. When I can live stream from anywhere, and can watch my favorite show anytime, I am sure as hell not going to subscribe to a DTH connection!  Slowly but surely, content that’s broadcast over cable networks and through satellite providers is being distributed through the public Internet.

Cord Cutter numbers are increasing and Cord Nevers are stealthily up. The number of service providers for online TV is increasing by the day. And when there is more demand for advanced technology, there is going to be more demand for advanced skillsets as well. To survive in the future of the IT industry, you should be equipping yourself with the skills needed for it. This will be possible only if you join an organization which will give you the space to learn, and the freedom to innovate.

This is where product based companies come into play, especially the start-ups.

Portals like YouTube, Netflix and Buzz feed have been on the floor for over a decade.
